the Twelfth Ezine!
It is pretty fun and exciting to have My Own Ezine

The Long Trip East

This Issue of LindseyGurl Ezine focuses mostly
on the beginning of my 1 month travel to the East Coast.
I live on the West Coast of the United States so a trip to the other side is a very long ways away.
I am not telling all so there will be lots to write about (and pictures too!) in next months LindseyGurl Ezine. Hope you keep sending me your comments because I really like reading about your life!
The drive to the airport was over 4 hours away,
so we double-checked the flight information and headed to the airport early.
We got to the airport over 2 hours early to find out the travel information we got off the Internet was wrong. The information we got was for a flight leaving out of another town that was 2 hours drive away!
Even though the flight number was right I was supposed to get on it at a different airport. The way we read it on the Internet schedules we were supposed to leave from San Francisco Airport.
There was no way we would make it to the other airport in time so, I missed the plane.
You can imagine our horror when we found this out! With a lot of "May I please speak with your boss?" Mom finally got me a new non-stop flight the same day to the East Coast.
It took a while but the airline was determined to make us happy.
Now we had all the time in the world! We began at the San Francisco McDonalds and planned our day of being tourists.
Starting out at the Fishermans Wharf we worked our way through San Francisco. We drove to a tall tower on top of a hill named Coit Tower.

It was awesome because it overlooked the entire waterfront and the San Francisco Bay. You could see all the big hills in San Francisco and that's when we saw the famous Lombard Street zigzagging down the hill across the way. I Had To go there!
The Jeep took the hill really well and there were 2 guys at the bottom taking pictures of us going back and forth down the hill. They waved smiled and said "thank-you for the pictures".
When we came down for the second time, guess what! The 2 guys were taking pictures of us on the middle of the hill this time! We were all laughing and again, they waved and smiled and said "thanks for the pictures!".
It was fun being a tourist in The City of San Francisco, but at the end of the day time seemed to stand still. It took forever till it was time to get on the plane!
Finally made it and the last time I saw my Mom she was walking up the aisle of the plane waving and saying "have a fun trip!".
I was glad to see my Grandma at the airport in New York City and boy! was I tired! But this was just the beginning of my vacation to the East Coast. Grandma had all kinds of exciting plans for us but you will have to read next months Ezine to find out all about it.

Places To Visit In Plymouth Mass.
Next Stop Plymouth Massachusetts
Every year we go to a place in Plymouth Massachusetts where my Grandmothers family has owned a cottage forever. It is right on a lake (they call it a pond) where we can swim, fish and have fun.
Grandma says when she was little they used to take their baths in the pond. I think that is funny and, must have been a long time ago!
It is really fun and from there we can go out and see the sights of the town and all around the area.
Plymouth Rock
One of the highlights of this area is the place where it is said the first American settlers landed. It is called Plymouth Rock. Here's a picture of the actual location of the Beach where the Mayflower Landed

There is a lot of history about the boat called the Mayflower, but you can click on the Links section to read more about it.
Plymouth has a replica, or a copy of the actual boat that carried the first settlers from England across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. Here's a picture of it.

Summer HomeWork Stay in practice for school
What are you doing to stay in practice for school this summer?
We have decided to do what I do during the school year to stay in practice for next year: - Every day I create 5 math problems.
This helps me especially if I give myself a 15 minute limit so when I take a pop quiz in school I am ready for it. - I also write down 5 spelling words, hard words, and write 5 1-word description of each word.
This is to improve my vocabulary. - I read out loud for 20 minutes a day
This helps because my reading is getting better and I am not afraid when I have to read out loud in front of the entire class. - This summer I plan to read 1 book per week.
One book a week isn't that much, especially if it is a book I enjoy.
My Goal is to read 3 Books a week this is to increase what I learn and be able to communicate better with everyone I meet
Rules And Kids Safety
Travelling Safety for Kids
If you are a kid always go over your safety plan with your parents or guardian before leaving the house.
You can never be too careful!
The better you know your safety and emergency plan
the easier it will be to follow it if something does happen!
Carefully write down all the safety and emergency tips you can think of that will help you/your young traveller.
Make a plan, guidelines to use in all airports, waiting areas, on the plane and wherever your young traveller (you) are leaving out NO details.
What's Your Plan?
- Have all the emergency, and non-emergency telephone numbers, addresses, and health release, allergy and medication list on paper ready and packed.
- Be thorough! If anything happens you will need this!
- Make 2 copies. One copy is for your traveller to keep with them at all times. The other copy goes in their bags so when they are at their destination they will still have a fresh copy to use while visiting.
- If the addresses of their friends and family back home are included they might remember to take a few minutes and send a post card or use spare time to sit down and write a letter.
- Go through mock dangerous stranger situations with your child.
If they know what to do and what not to do when a stranger comes along your chances of them staying safe are far better.
- Remind the young traveller to always be aware of thier surroundings, emergency exits, telephones, and ways to get out of a building if there is a fire or explosion.
